STATEMENT
Girlguiding Merseyside covers a large area with a diverse population. It has 7 Divisions which cover all parts of Liverpool, Kirkby, Huyton, St Helens, Prescot and Rainhill, and Newton-le-Willows. Each Division is split into Districts all who work hard together to promote guiding in the area.
Liverpool City was the European Capital of Culture for 2008 and the City and surrounding areas played host to millions of visitors. 7,000 of them were Girlguiding UK members when we hosted the World in One City weekend in February. The City is famous for its Waterfront, Music and Football teams.
Away from the City, there are plenty of parks and Otterspool promenade. Prescot is the birthplace of the Rocket Steam engine. Out in Knowsley we have the Safari Park, in the grounds of Knowsley Hall the home of the Earl and Countess of Derby. St Helens is famous for its glass and ‘The Saints’, St Helens Rugby team.
