STATEMENT
Welcome to the Girlguiding Wirral web page. The first ideas of Scouting (& Guiding) were launched by Sir Robert Baden Powell in 1906 at the YMCA in Birkenhead, Wirral. Since then Girlguiding has gone from strength to strength and we have an active and flourishing county, especially in the Senior Section age group.
Wirral County first came into being in 1972 when the county of Cheshire split into three: Wirral, Cheshire Forest and Cheshire Border; and we continue to have strong links with our neighbouring counties including Merseyside and Sefton.
Our County campsite, Hadlow Fields, is popular with Guiders both in and out of Wirral and rings with the sound of girls enjoying the out of doors nearly every weekend of the year. We have successfully held three International Camps with a fourth planned for 2008. Come and visit us on Wirral and you can be sure of a warm welcome.
