Waddow Hall’s Adventure House was the place to be this Easter, for Senior Section, as North West England Region hosted a Queens Guide and Duke of Edinburgh Residential. Twenty Senior Section members from all parts of the United Kingdom met together to fulfil the requirements of the Residential project for both or either award. The girls started the five days as strangers and finished as firm friends, they are now planning their reunion and keeping in touch on Facebook.
The programme had fun and serious aspects to it, at Waddow the camp sites were cleared and equipment was cleaned ready for the new season. Activities available on the site such as Trampolining, Orienteering, Mountain biking and conquering the new Tall Tree climb were all experienced. A campfire was held in freezing temperatures, and an Easter Egg trail took place in the snow.
A trip out to Samlesbury Hall, a local stately home took place Sunday afternoon where the group met Henry VIII. The evening finished with a meal at a local restaurant in Clitheroe. The project was a new venture for the Region but as it was voted a success by the participants, it is hoped to stage a similar experience next year. What of the girls from this residential? Well hopefully the Region have helped them on their way to achieving their Awards.
