BROWNIES TAKE OVER THE SURE ICE RINK IN CELEBRATIONS 100 YEARS IN
THE MAKING
18 DEC 2009
On Saturday 12th December 463 Brownies from all over the Island “Took Over” the Ice Rink in the Villa Marina Gardens. The trip to the Ice Rink was chosen as one of the celebrations to mark the first 100 years of guiding.

Brownies from all 25 of the Island’s Brownie units got the chance to skate, sing Christmas songs and have a trip to Davisons ice cream parlour. Each girl received a special goody bag to mark the event with badges, balloons and a large Fairtrade chocolate bar donated by the Co-op.
Event Organiser, Sharon Lannigan, said “Seeing the smiling faces of the girls on the ice made all the time spent organising it worthwhile. Giving the girls the chance to take up unique experiences like this is what’s so great about guiding. And it’s amazing to think we have been doing this for 100 years.” Sharon continued “The support from local firms such as the Co-op, Davisons and Sure has been fantastic.”
