ABOUT

I have been a leader for Girlguiding in North West England for thirty years now,  although my Guiding started in Birmingham.  I was first a Guide and Ranger leader in Cheshire Forest, but also an Adviser at County and Region level for Senior Section camps and holidays.  My most recent appointment before taking up the Region Chief Commissioner’s role was as County Commissioner for Cheshire Forest.

I have also been involved in organising some of the most exciting large events for Girlguiding UK, including the World Camp in 1999, World in One City in Liverpool in 2008 and I am involved in planning Fusion, the celebration of the Centenary to be held at Harewood House near Leeds in 2010.

I still work full time as a School Improvement Adviser for Salford Local Authority and I also work as a volunteer for the Geographical Association, helping to support geographical education.

I have a long-suffering husband who always supports my guiding work and is going to be our chauffeur as the Region President, Ann Holt and I, travel the Region to visit all the Centenary Launch events.

My only daughter, Jen, lives and works in Japan as a foreign language assistant.
