Region Young Leader Advisers

The Young Leader Advisers are responsible for ensuring good practice around the uptake and approval of members undertaking and completing their Young Leader Qualification.

I have been involved in guiding all my life (my first birthday was celebrated on a Guide camp!). I am a Guide leader in Wigan West Division, which is in Lancashire South county. I have been a leader for 30+ years and have run units in all sections. I have also been a division and district commissioner.

I was a young leader myself and am passionate about helping girls to become future leaders.

During the day I am an SEN teacher working with young people with challenging behaviour and a variety of mental health issues, as well as being a mum of two, one of whom is a young leader.

I'm a Rainbow and Guide leader, and I also enjoy being involved in Girlguiding holiday units. Previously I was the lead volunteer for growth and retention within my county; growing guiding, building and embracing guiding values and forming relationships with the public/private sector whilst promoting Girlguiding.

I'm excited about the further opportunities and challenges the young leader adviser role will bring. I am looking forward to making a difference and a productive contribution, which will benefit all our young leaders; enabling our young members to achieve their goals.
