Ellie Chambers

Region Archivist

The region archivist is responsible for maintaining the heritage of Girlguiding North West England, taking particular responsibility for looking after its archives.

Ellie is very excited to be taking on the role of Heritage Adviser for the region, especially during such a significant anniversary. As a history lover, she said it's incredible opportunity to find out more about Guiding North West England’s past and to keep it safe for the future. She's looking forward to delving into the archives to find its treasures and hopefully sharing them with you all as much as possible!

Ellie was a Brownie and Guide and when she found time to volunteer as an adult she wanted to get back into Girlguiding and give girls and young women the same great experiences she had. Since February 2020 she's been a Leader in Training with 1st Didsbury Guides and is currently working on her Leadership Qualification, although she say most of my guiding experience has been via Zoom so it’s been an interesting start!

Ellie works for the Imperial War Museum and is also undertaking a full time PhD in Archaeology. Her job is very varied but includes some work with the collection in a research capacity, so she's looking forward to bringing her skills to the region archive.

She said "I felt very lucky when the opportunity to combine my passion for history and Guiding came up and I’m hoping to make the archive as accessible as possible for future Members!"
