Julie Walton

Region Chief Commissioner

The chief commissioner is the lead volunteer for Girlguiding North West England and has overall responsibility for the running of the organisation and its volunteers.

Julie has been a member of Girlguiding since the age of 7, and since moving to Cumbria in 1987 has been a Guide leader, Rainbow leader, Brownie leader, district, division and county commissioner, DofE adviser, First Response and Safe Space trainer.

In taking on the role Julie said “I am extremely honoured and will always do my best to represent North West England well. The promise has always meant so much to me, in particular, the first line 'I promise that I will do my best'. I have always used this approach in everything I do and will continue to apply this to the role of region chief commissioner."

With a membership of more than 55,000 members in North West England, Julie is delighted to be assisted by deputy chief commissioner, Kathryn Qattan and assistant region chief commissioner, Emma Dixon; together they hope to see that number grow over the next five years. Julie is most looking forward to working with everyone in the region and continuing the sterling work here at Girlguiding NWE.
