Lauren Wheeler

Council Representative

The Council is a forum where four members from Girlguiding North West England - one of nine countries and regions in the UK - represent members to influence decisions made about Girlguiding. Members of the Council bring a cross-section of their own views, and consult locally to bring the views of a wider group of people, to inform top-level policy and strategy decisions. The Council appoints the Patron, President and Vice Presidents, as and when needed, and agree on the recruitment process for the Chief Guide and participate in the selection and voting on her appointment.

Lauren has been involved in Girlguiding since the age of five, as a Rainbow and grew up in the organisation going through Brownies, Guides, Rangers and eventually becoming an Assistant Leader. As well as sitting on the Girlguiding Council, she is also a member of the Advocate panel, where, alongside a small group of other young women aged 14-25, she represents the views of young women across the organisation at a national level. Lauren is currently at university in London, but she can’t wait to get back to a unit role as she misses the weekly meetings!
