Leader Social Walks June 3, 2025

We’re holding another leader social walk on Saturday 25 April at Threlkeld and we’d love to see you there!

Start location/Time: Meet at 8:45am for a 9am start at the car park at the top of the village of Threlkeld.

Information: The walk is open to all adult volunteers, not just those working towards a walking qualification. We will be climbing the iconic Blencathra from Threlkeld, the village that is nestled at the foot of this great mountain.

Finish location/time: The walk will end back at the car park at about 3:30pm.

Kit: We would recommend a small rucksack with a drink in a screw-top bottle and a packed lunch. Please wear appropriate footwear (e.g. trainers or walking boots). Depending on the weather you may also wish to bring sun hats/sun cream; a warm jumper or a windproof coat.

This walk is dog friendly!

As there are a limited number of spaces for this walk, once we have reached event capacity you will automatically be added onto a waiting list for when a place becomes available. We will email you to confirm whether you have a space, or whether you have been added to a waiting list.

Girlguiding North West England Annual Promise Day September 4, 2025

Our badge design competition for our Girlguiding North West England Annual Day ended in July, and we’ve been working with our Winner on finalising the design! Beth from 6th Chorlton Brownies in Manchester won with her fabulous idea of a ‘Promise Day,’ all about being kind. Her ideas fit with the guiding promise, and we adapted from there! A huge congratulations to Beth and everyone else who entered it was another successful competition with so many ideas to choose from.

With that being said, we are holding our Annual Promise Day on Tuesday, 12 May 2026!

This will be a virtual mass promise for all members to partake in at 6:30 pm and we cannot wait to all make our guiding promise together!

You will be able to purchase the badge from our shop very soon! Stay tuned…

If members of Girlguiding North West England require to use the Baboon Bus, then each member will need to pay an additional fee of £7.50 per person to use this service. To take part in the vehicle Safari you will either need your own vehicle (car, minibus, coach), or you can book onto the Baboon bus. If you’re not taking your own vehicle, you will need to book the baboon bus directly with Knowsley Safari at https://www.knowsleysafariexperience.co.uk/our-safari/baboon-bus (please note that tickets for the Baboon Bus are limited).

Whilst coaches are welcome on the vehicle Safari, they are not allowed through the baboon or lion enclosure. There is a car friendly alternative route which takes vehicles around the enclosure, which is suitable for coaches and other cars that are not wishing to drive through the enclosure.

If you do not wish to take part in the vehicle safari, you can still take part in other elements of the day including the foot safari, talks with keeps, and bug walks!
