#GuidingMemories Campaign

This autumn term we’re challenging you, our members, to raise awareness of our amazing organisation and all it has to offer through our #GuidingMemories campaign. We’ve all been surprised when speaking to non-members who don’t realise that guiding still exists, and are unaware of all of the fantastic things we get up to. So, we want to spread the word that we are very much active, by asking people to share their favourite #GuidingMemories with us, whilst shouting out about all of the fantastic things we do in guiding today.

We’ve created GIFs for each social media channel, showcasing our current uniform and a selection of former uniforms, as well as stills for each section, should you wish to shout about one section in particular. Click here to download them all!

We’d love it if you could share these far and wide; on personal social media pages and in community groups, and, to give you a little helping hand, there will be a prize for the person with the biggest reach on their post – a £25 voucher for the region shop! Just screenshot your post, clearly showing the number of likes and comments it has received, and send it over to us at northwesthq@girlguidingnwe.org.uk. There will also be a prize for the person who shares their post in the largest group – a £10 voucher for the region shop! So, simply send us a screenshot of the group and the number of members it has, together with a screenshot of your post in the group, to be in with a chance of winning – you’ve got to be in it to win it! The winner will be announced following the deadline for submissions of 31 October 2021.

FAQs

How should I best use the GIFs and social media assets?

The beauty of these assets is that you can add supporting text to suit the needs of your unit or local area. This may be a need for more volunteers or for more girls, or for someone with a specialist skill to help with your unit admin, for example. Or, you may just wish to raise awareness of the fantastic organisation that is Girlguiding North West England. During the most recent national campaigns, local guiding had the most success listing the specific areas in which they were recruiting. You can find some suggested text below.

What if I receive negative comments on my post?

Whilst it can be tempting to engage with negative comments, to correct misconceptions about Girlguiding or possible negative memories of Girlguiding, we suggest that, in most instances, it is best to ignore any negative comments. If you ever feel unsure about how to deal with a comment and would like some advice, please do get in touch via northwesthq@girlguidingnwe.org.uk.
