Region Volunteer Opportunities - Join our team of advisers!

We’re looking for a number of members to join our region adviser team to lead our work in a number of areas

We’re looking for a number of members to join our region adviser team to lead our work in a number of areas; these roles are volunteer roles that are either vacant or the current role holders are due for their roles to end in 2021. If you are interested in supporting us in any of these roles then please email Kelly.hunter@girlguidingnwe.org.uk stating your name, the volunteer role you’re interested in, county, membership number, as well as some information as to why you’re interested and what you’d bring to such a volunteer role.

 

Commissioner Support Adviser

We need someone to ensure that commissioner support and mentoring is accessible, relevant and positive so that we enable those appointed to commissioner roles to feel empowered, informed and confident in their roles.

Inclusion & Diversity Adviser

We are looking for someone with knowledge and/or lived experience of a specific aspect of inclusion, referred as specialisms.  The adviser will give guidance on, motivate and communicate about their specialism within the region team and support county advisers. You’ll be responsible for helping to create opportunities for events and take an active role in the wider region team. You should have a specialism in one or more of the following areas: disability inclusion, mental health inclusion, LGBT inclusion, faith inclusion, social inclusion or race inclusion.

Merchandise Chair

We need someone to lead our Merchandise Committee. The committee supports region by researching and developing new region merchandise lines for our region shop.  You’ll need to be innovative and have an idea of what Girlguiding members would be interested in purchasing from us.

Walking Adviser

We need someone to promote and encourage the enjoyment of walking for all sections, they’ll be a point of contact for members across the region who may need guidance on safety, training and qualification requirements.  Knowledge of the Girlguiding Walking Scheme is desirable (support can be provided if needed) and you’ll need to hold or be working towards a Level 2 walking qualification (or higher).

International Adviser

In this role you will lead on and promote all aspects of international and encourage overseas opportunities, you’ll be our region link to WAGGGS and will work with them to promote events and activities. You’ll need to hold Girlguiding Going Away with Travelling Abroad module, be passionate and enthusiastic about world travel and world affairs, able to work as part of a team as well as having the ability to motivate and inspire girls and leaders from a wide variety of backgrounds.  

Region Archivist

We’re looking for someone interested in the history of Girlguiding to support members in the promotion of Girlguiding’s heritage. You’ll need to encourage the development of exhibitions and other heritage opportunities, promote the use of oral history recordings and relevant heritage activities. We’re looking for someone with attention to detail and accuracy. 

Social Media Adviser/s

We’re looking for a number of people to support our social media activity.  You’ll need to be able to work as part of a team, have knowledge of different social media platforms and be available to provide social media out of usual office hours cover on a rota basis to help drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our social media presence.

Sports Adviser

We are looking for one or two people to work with our current adviser to help take forward the work that we have been funded to do over the last few years on the Motivate project. If you are interested in sport and encouraging girls to participate in sporting activity, then this role is for you!
