The Silver Fish
The Silver Fish is Girlguiding’s highest award. It is given in recognition of outstanding and distinguished service and an exceptional contribution to a wide section of Girlguiding, including international guiding either in the United Kingdom or abroad. This award may be given to an active adult member of Girlguiding or one of the Branch Associations.

The Region Chief Commissioner’s award is for members of Girlguiding North West England who have displayed enthusiasm, abilities or qualities that make them stand out as ambassadors for the region. This could be work towards a specific event, the impact had on a unit, district, division or county, or the impact had on a specific girl. Please see the criteria for more information.

An award for young members who act as an exceptional role model, or have shown great resilience or initiative in response to an emergency situation. This is an Association award for any active, exceptional young member of Girlguiding, up to her 19th birthday, who meets the criteria.

National Honours (including CBE, OBE and MBE) are awarded in recognition of exceptional merit and service to the nation. Nominations for National Honours can be made for, or include, outstanding services to guiding.

This award is to show appreciation to members or friends of Girlguiding who have done something wonderful that has in some way helped others. Heroes can be of any age. They can be members or friends of Girlguiding, and there are a wide range of reasons why you can nominate a Girlguiding Hero, including a special fundraising effort, supporting an individual or member of the community, supporting local guiding, showing fantastic citizenship, coping with adversity and more!
