And before we dive in… We’re so looking forward to welcoming Anya Peet Draycott and Frankie Worthington, our new Assistant Region Chief Commissioners, once they’re back from their travels. We can’t wait to have them join the team properly and bring their enthusiasm, experience, and fresh perspectives.
Here’s what your Chiefs have been up to this month — in their own words.
Rona…
It’s been a busy but exciting month, with a real mix of international work, governance, and some much‑needed downtime.
I joined the international team to sign off the latest RENs — always a big moment and a real privilege.
I also took a holiday this month, which was a lovely chance to recharge before everything ramps up again.
Kelly (our Executive Manager) and I have kept up our weekly catch‑ups — they’re such an important anchor point for keeping the Region’s work aligned.
Uniform has been a big theme, so I met with the other Country and Region Chiefs to make sure we’re supporting volunteers well through the transition.
I have also had a great meeting with the Girlguiding Manchester’s County Commissioner and Deputy — it was brilliant to strengthen those county links.

July has been full of youth voice, international excitement, and some brilliant unit celebrations — guiding definitely doesn’t slow down for summer.
I spent time with Cumbria South for Youth Day — such a joyful event and a real reminder of why we do what we do.
I had our final briefing for ICE 26 before we head to Gibraltar on 12 August. We stayed at Woodbank (Merseyside) and the girls completed the Guide Overnight Badge and Operation Safari Conservation Badge. We finalised trip plans and covered sun safety — they’re so ready now.
My Brownies and Guides finished for the summer with a masterclass from Jamie Stockley and his doodle art workshop — an amazing end‑of‑term treat.
I’ve had my quarterly catch‑up with Sally Kettle and the other Deputy Country and Region Commissioners, which is always a great space to connect and share.
I’m continuing with my County Commissioner catch up meetings — they’re such an important part of supporting leadership across the region.
And guiding isn’t stopping for me yet — August is looking very busy.

From REN sign‑offs and youth events to international briefings and unit masterclasses, your Chiefs have been working hard to support volunteers, strengthen leadership, and keep guiding thriving across Girlguiding North West England.
